Sustainability
Sustainability at Profound Naturals is an honest, ongoing commitment - not a marketing position. As a small business, the transition to fully sustainable packaging is a gradual one, and this page reflects exactly where things currently stand.
Wherever possible, excess packaging is eliminated entirely. Orders are shipped in padded mailer envelopes rather than boxes, reducing both material use and shipping weight.
Products are protected using recycled honeycomb wrap and recycled bubble wrap - still plastic, but sourced from recycled material rather than virgin. The goal is to move progressively toward fully biodegradable, paper-based packaging as the business grows. That transition is already underway.
All essential oils, absolutes, and perfumes are bottled in amber glass - recyclable, inert, and reusable. Amber glass also protects the integrity of natural oils from UV degradation, extending shelf life and reducing waste.
Lids are metal or glass depending on the product. Labels are not yet biodegradable - this is on the roadmap as sustainable label stock becomes more accessible at small-batch scale.
The aromatherapy nasal inhalers are made from PET plastic - a durable, lightweight material chosen specifically because these inhalers are designed for long-term reuse. Refill wicks are available separately, meaning the inhaler body can be used and refreshed for years rather than discarded after a single use. Reusable and refillable is always preferable to single-use.
Not everything is perfect yet - labels, some outer wrap, and certain closures are still conventional materials. That is acknowledged openly. Every product decision at Profound Naturals weighs environmental impact alongside quality, and that won't change as the range grows.
