The eucalypt for anyone who finds Blue Gum too sharp. Steam-distilled from Eucalyptus radiata and naturally high in 1,8-cineole, it carries the same unmistakable eucalyptus character in a softer, sweeter, less camphorous form - crisp and clean rather than medicinal. It lifts a blend instead of dominating it, which is why it has such a long history in steam and inhalation traditions and why it is the one I keep closest to hand. Cineole-rich oils should not be applied on or near the face of children under 10.
